Kerala lawmakers and government officials concluded their two-day visit to Southern Naval Command (SNC) organized by the Indian Navy on Thursday.
A total of seven MPs and as many officials representing various ministries participated in the event, which was held on September 15 and 16.
The Navy provided a first-hand briefing on its training and operational functioning with a focus on Kerala’s maritime strengths and challenges.

The event was marked by familiarization tours to various naval simulators on water survival, damage control, shipboard firefighting techniques and the ship-handling training simulator the Navy said in a statement. Dongre thanked the Navy for the initiative.
âOne of the distinctive events was the passage of naval sailboats Tarangini and Sudharsini with naval cadets demonstrating their navigation and rigging skills. During the outing at sea, the dignitaries also toured the ship and familiarized themselves with the various compartments, the confined work and machinery spaces as well as the living areas, ” the statement said.
During the sea excursion, naval units demonstrated various facets of naval operations including aircraft demonstrations, search and rescue operations, maneuvers at sea, neutralization of asymmetric threats by rapid attack craft multipurpose water jet as well as rapid interception craft.
