The Nigerian Navy has released the posting of 54 Rear Admirals following the recent promotion of senior officers in the service.
Navy Headquarters Information Director Commodore Suleman Dahun made the announcement in a statement Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, in assignments, Rear Adm. Saidu Garba, former Secretary of the Navy, was appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, Navy Headquarters, while Rear Adm. Barabutemegha Gbassa, former Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, is now the Chief of Administration, Navy Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Sanusi Ibrahim, former Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, is transferred to Navy Headquarters as Secretary of the Navy, while Rear Admiral Sileranda Lassa, former Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command, was appointed Group Managing Director, Navy Holdings Ltd.
Also, Rear Admiral. Muhammed Nagenu, former Chief of Logistics, Navy Headquarters, had been appointed Chief of Defense Administration at Defense Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Solomon Agada, former Director of Peacekeeping Operations , naval headquarters, is now named chief of training and operations, the statement said.
The assignments also affected Rear Admiral Murtala Bashir who moved from the Naval War College as Commandant to the National Defense College, while the former Director of Maritime Domain Awareness at Navy Headquarters would now resume as Head of Defense Civil-Military Cooperation, Defense Headquarters.
Similarly, Rear Admiral Okon Eyo, former Director of Training, Defense Headquarters, had been appointed Chief of Naval Transformation, Navy Headquarters, while Rear Admiral Perry Onwuzulike, former Director of Lessons learned, Navy Headquarters, now Chief of Naval Safety and Standards, Navy Headquarters.
Rear Adm. Monday Unurhiere, former Chief of Staff of Naval Training Command, had been reappointed to Naval Training Command as Commanding Flag Officer.
Additionally, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, former Director of Personnel Releases, was reappointed to Navy Headquarters as Director of Policy, while Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, former Manning Director, Headquarters of the navy, was appointed commanding officer of the logistics command.
