PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company, has received an order for six next-generation S-70M Black Hawk utility helicopters from the Romanian Interior Ministry. This first order follows the recent signing of a four-year framework agreement that will see up to 12 Polish-built Black Hawks S-70Ms delivered to Romania over the next four years.
The first six aircraft, three configured to support maritime operations and three to support land operations, will be delivered in cooperation with Romaero and DELTAMED during 2023. Romania becomes the 11th country and the 18th customer of Black Hawk helicopters built by PZL Mielec, Poland’s largest exporter of defense and aerospace equipment.
The cabin of the land and sea Black Hawks will accommodate a medical suite equipped by Deltamed, based in Cluj-Napoca, an experienced integrator of emergency vehicles equipped for patient care and rescue operations.
âToday’s order from the Romanian Interior Ministry highlights the dual-use capabilities of the S-70 Black Hawk. The helicopter brings military robustness to civilian missions and is just as capable of supporting national police, coast guard, firefighting, border patrols or search and rescue operations as it supports firefighting operations. defense and security or medical evacuations, âsaid Janusz Zakrecki, President and CEO of PZL. Mielec.
With a proud heritage in the European aerospace industry stretching back over 80 years, PZL Mielec is today the largest manufacturing facility of parent company Lockheed Martin outside of the United States.
