LAHORE, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – July 4, 2022): U.S. Special Representative for Trade and Commerce Dilawar Syed called Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman and discussed bilateral trade and investment at a meeting at the governor’s house, here on Monday.

The two dignitaries also discussed measures to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

Also in attendance were Ms. Gaia Self, Regional Policy Officer for US International Development Finance Cooperation, and Kathleen Gibilsico, Political/Economic Head of the US Consulate in Lahore.

Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said Pakistan values ​​its longstanding relationship with the United States, adding that joint ventures are needed to further strengthen relations between the two countries, especially in the area of ​​trade.

He stressed the need to further strengthen trade relations between the two countries, adding that there is huge potential for business opportunities for US investors in Pakistan.

He said improving the education and health sectors, solving the energy crisis and eradicating poverty are the priorities of the current government.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said the current government has revived the “Women on Wheels” project to empower women in Punjab. He mentioned that various training courses are conducted at the Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TEVTA) for the empowerment of women.

US Special Representative for Business and Commerce Dilawar Syed, speaking on the occasion, said US companies are interested in investing in various sectors including technology.

He said there are vast opportunities between Pakistan and the United States to increase trade and investment.
